How to overcome those frustrating data dead spots

Dave Gorby • Sep 14, 2023

Premium and Business accounts prioritize data

Many of us have issues with cellular data at our homes and businesses which has been made much more noticeable and aggravating now that many of us lack essential Wi-Fi access due to the storm.
And although data dead spots can be a frustrating roadblock, disrupting our online experiences even in areas with seemingly strong signal strength, there may be some things you can do to increase your data speeds.
First, keep in mind that signal bar strength does not equate to higher data speeds. We have all been through areas with four bars of data, but virtually zero data speeds. Alternatively, we have been with two bars and great data speeds. Basically, it all comes down to what bands your phone is receiving from your carrier at your location AND exactly which plan you are on. Many plans de-prioritize data for your phone based on your plan and the number of users on the network near your location. However, there MAY be a way to overcome this. Bear in mind, it may cost you more money, but it may solve the problem and be well worth the upgrade.
Contact your mobile carrier to upgrade your data plan to one with higher data prioritization. This may help address data dead spots and improve your overall connectivity experience.
Here are Five reasons how changing your plan to a higher data priority may help you.
Priority Access: With a higher-priority data plan, you receive priority access to available network resources, even during peak usage times. This means that you are less likely to experience slowdowns or data drops in congested areas.
1. Seamless Streaming: Enjoy buffer-free video streaming, uninterrupted video calls, and swift downloads, even in areas with high network demand.
2. Reliable Connectivity: Upgraded plans often come with increased data thresholds before de-prioritization occurs. This means that you can maintain fast speeds for a more extended period, making your data connection more reliable.
3. Improved Coverage: In areas with high network congestion, upgrading your plan can ensure that you continue to receive a strong and reliable data signal.
4. Business Productivity: For professionals who rely on mobile data for work, a high-priority plan can be crucial. It ensures that critical data and communications remain uninterrupted, contributing to enhanced productivity.
